Why did we create Hilltribes Eco Lodges?

We created Hill Tribes Eco Lodges and Elephant Sanctuary as a place where travelers can slow down, reconnect with nature, and learn from the Karen community in Mae Wang, Chiang Mai. Join guided jungle treks and respectfully observe elephants in their natural surroundings—without riding or performances. Our half-day, full-day, and overnight programs combine elephant observation, waterfalls, local food, and cultural learning while supporting the local community.

Hilltribes Eco Lodges is not just a “place to stay” — it is a home of experiences,

Mission

Hill Tribes Ecolodges Home Stay

We believe travel should mean something.

Our mission is to create experiences that connect people with local culture and the elephants who share this land

on terms that are honest, ethical, and rooted in genuine care.

We’ve built a place where elephants can simply be. No performances, no pressure

just space to live as they should. Alongside that, we work closely with local communities to share their traditions, knowledge, and way of life with the visitors who come here from across the world.

We think responsible travel can actually change things. And that’s what we’re here to do.

Vision

Hill Tribes Ecolodges Home Stay

We’re surrounded by mountains, forest,

and a landscape that reminds you — daily — why this all matters.

Our vision is straightforward: a world where elephants live free. Not managed, not exploited, not performing for anyone. Just free, safe, and treated as the wild animals they are.

We also believe tourism, done right, can drive real change. So we’ve shaped every part of what we do around one idea — that people can connect deeply with elephants and nature without taking anything away from either.

And we haven’t forgotten the people who’ve always been here. Preserving Karen culture — its identity, its wisdom, its future — is just as central to who we are.
Responsible tourism, to us, means everyone benefits. The land, the elephants, and the community alike.

Foundation child

Real change doesn't start with big gestures. It starts with a kid getting the chance to learn.

We support children in the local Karen community — through education, skills, and the kinds of opportunities that are easy to take for granted elsewhere. The goal is simple: that they grow up with options, and with pride in who they are and where they come from.

Part of what you spend here goes directly toward that. School supplies, learning programs, better everyday conditions for families in this community. Nothing complicated about it.

We just think that if people are coming all this way to experience something real, the least we can do is make sure the people who live here benefit too — especially the kids.
